Interesting thing you did here, I like it

I really like the mixture of real footage with animation, that was nice. The style the kids were drawn in was really expressive as well, really nice. Of course, I had to download the animation to my computer to get it to play properly (for some reason the right click > play method didn't work for me), but once I did I was amazed by how good it was. And I liked how honest the kids were with their rambling... talking about things none of us have a clue about, but it was charming chit chat in any case. Charm is hard to come by in this day in age, you know, especially in an internet animation. All in all, this is a great piece of animated greatness and I hope to see more things done in this nature on this site, we really don't see enough things like it.

In summary, good job!

I like this

I'm surprised this only got 2000+ views, it deserves more. It's subliminal and text heavy, but not in a way where it forces you to read it. I think the delivery is very interesting, since it offers you a glimpse into things, but it doesn't stay in one spot for long. This is a good thing, keeps it interesting. A pause feature would've helped for those of us who wanted to read those interesting little blobs of text, but it's fine either way. I like that you involved some actual flash animation in this, most people who do this sort of text and image heavy subliminal stuff don't do that, it's a good thing. Keeps it varied. In any case, good work, I enjoyed it.

Looked good, but needs more

I completely agree with the person who said this was good, but the idea needs to be taken further. This is really good for one night of animation, but you really should've taken your time and added more elements to the story to help it stick out further. And the dude could've used a voice... the thought bubble was ok, but spoken word would've worked better there. That kind of goes with the more time argument, though. Not bad though, you earn my thumbs up of approval. See it? There it is, right there. One thumb held high. Good luck with your future works.

Gate-keeper-girl responds:

One thumb? . o.

Yeah, I wanted to use his voice, but he is shy in front of a microphone.

Later episodes (I am thinking of turning this into a series of hilarious escapades) will probably feature his voice, or an actor's (Hopefully I can get HIS voice . _.)
I'm glad you took the time to type out such a good review.
I appreciate the effort.

I feel the walls of my brain melting

I feel the walls of my brain melting when I watch this. I mean, the preloader enough was strange enough, but then you got those dancing... things... under the Yalp button. This entire thing... it's just a bloody nightmare full of laughter and decapitation. Like most of your other work, it's random and criminally insane, but likable. A strange combination, but it works. Keep up the acid trip animations, you colorful person you!

I sure hate preloaders that start themselves

...especially if that means the movie just loops endlessly.
But I'm not reviewing a preloader, so I'll get to the point. It was nice and stylized, like the description says... but without an actual concrete story, the viewer has to rely solely on visuals, and when the visuals are just a choppy pen and paper animation, the viewer suffers. Especially if it's not shaded or colored or anything, you know? You're not going to get anywhere on style alone. The whole 'interpret your own meaning' attitude only goes so far... like another reviewer said, it's a good idea, and you use your style well... but you need to add more elements to it to make something great out of it. Even if all you did was add more drawings to make it fluid, color the original drawings, or just add some shading, it would help the flash stand out better.
Also, next time, please, don't use the auto-starting preloader. I like being able to decide when I want it to start, not it starting when it feels like it. Just a thought, though, I didn't let something like that effect my opinion on the rest of it. Good luck with future endeavors.

Wow, this is really great

I like how deliciously random this all is. I haven't watched many other episodes, but I did like this one, so I will have to say you did a good job with this. Well, I didn't... HAVE to say it, but felt it was a good thing for me to do. Gotta be honest here, you know? Or at least, I'd like to be. The jokes were pretty good, especially the whole argument bit in the middle. And the pink hand bit. Quite a good little morsel of visual niceness. "You look like someone's crap uncle who never buys presents!" Heh. Keep it up, man.

Damn, someone beat me to the punch

Shit, I should've finished my cartoon sooner, lol... damnit. Ah well, this commercial IS overdue for a flash parody. I'll finish mine, eventually...

But on to the review. It was... alright, I suppose. Not great, but not too shabby. The visuals are good, but the actual parody could've been taken further. That's ok, though, cuz I don't have to worry about any of my jokes being used... eh heh heh...
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
...er, sorry. I'll just go now.

Pleased as punch

This is turning into quite the series... I think the highlight for me was the mastermind saying 'pleased as punch'... something about a deep, semi-serious villain saying something as fruity as that is just funny to me. Good stuff, I hope this continues.

The-Swain responds:

lol well if everyone hates that line, then it was worth it if at least someone thought it was great :D

Not bad for a first flash

A little odd, but for one day of effort, it's not too shabby. Work on the voice quality and it'd be good. Oh, and obviously, the animation, but I know you're just starting off, so that'll come in time. Just keep practicin'. WORD!

thebeanhead responds:

thanks sir bobert

I liked that

That was pretty good parody, Mr. Berry. And yes, I realize that rhymes. Anyway, yeah, I liked it. Laughed out loud a couple times, since I've actually seen the movie and so I'm familiar with the things you parodied. Especially the parodies on the camera guy's character, I really didn't like him in the movie so those were especially great. Good stuff.

All I do all day is make cartoons in various programs. Comedic animations, parodies of movies and video games. EGO FI.
