!Warning: I use run-on sentences like they're going out of style. Also, my paragraph structure sucks. Also also, I practically wrote a book worth of content, but don't feel like editing any of it out. Read only if you can tolerate these things.

Well, my kingship is almost up, and what do I have to show for it? A news post in which I rant about 2012. Nifty. Although here's the interesting part: My birthday is on the day right after my kingship will be revoked. I hadn't realized this until a moment ago, so I figured I'd share. My birthday is on the 8th, by the way.

Now that that's out of the way, let me tell you... I was totally going to finish the extras for episode 5 and release it this month. Totally. Here's the thing, though: I got sidetracked. Sidetracked how, you ask? Well, I'll divulge in a minute. Just know that I do intend to finish it and release it sometime in June. Not in time for my birthday, no... but it'll be out sometime next month, I assure you.

Have any of you guys heard of Mugen? Not the guy from Samurai Champloo, no. It's a PC fighting game. Specifically, it's one in which you can download characters and install them into the game, pitting fighters made by other players against one another. Most people use this as a chance to make fighters from anywhere you can think of (mainstream fighting games, misc other games, pop culture) and pit them against eachother. I used to be really into it back in 2001 when I first found out about it, but lost interest a year or so later because it was a DOS program back then and was a really difficult program to work with. Lack of documentation didn't help matters either.

Well, about a week or two ago I found some really old files buried on an old harddrive. Among these files were the old characters I had downloaded for Mugen way back when. So I tinkered around with it and did some research and I found out that there's a newer version of it out, for windows no less. So since then, I've been downloading more characters and decided to try my hand at character creation again.

From the image below, you can guess which character I'm making. Yep, Spike from Siblings. The blue haired fellow he's fighting in the image is a character I made back in 01 (based on myself in highschool, as I was in highschool back in 01). Going through the older characters I had made, I really REALLY sucked at making fighters for that game. Seriously, there are so many things wrong with them, it's mind boggling. Thankfully, there's now MUCH better documentation for the program and even a nifty program that makes the creation process 100 times easier, I love it. I'm half way through making Spike already and I'm really excited about how it's going to turn out. Animating the character in flash helps, too. Who knows, I may incorporate these graphics into some kind of flash game... if I ever get good enough at making flash games, anyway.

As you can assume, my work with Mugen has put my animations on pause for a moment. A small vacation, if you will. See, I'm doing this just for my love of this program and my desire to create something that won't take long to make and that will test my ability to make something game related that's actually, you know, FUN. He'll be available for download on my site when I'm done making him of course, but I'm mainly doing it because I want to. Most of you have probably never heard of the program anyway. Of course, if you HAVE heard of it, then this will be a pleasant surprise, eh?

And for those of you who are now curious about the program, please, DONT ASK ME HOW IT WORKS OR WHERE TO GET IT. It's called a search engine, try using it. You could always get started here (Wikipedia article) for the basic info on it, and check out the sites it lists for forums to ask questions in. Also, FAQs help with that too. A warning: it's a hard program to work with. But when you DO get it to work, it's truely mind boggling. Omega Tiger Woods is reason enough to get it working.

On a somewhat related note, there are a LOT of youtube videos about Mugen out these days. Weird stuff. Although it's thanks to that site that I was able to gain some of the characters that're almost impossible to find, so yay for that.

But anyway, hang tight everyone. More's on the way, but it'll take a little bit. Later!

M.U.G.E.N., anyone?

again first? lulz well i know the thing, 1 of my friends have it on his pc =) wish u look and when u finish spike tell me where i can download it lolz

lolz i wrote look instead of luck

I love making sprites for Mugen, if I only knew a damn thing about coding.

You should visit the mugenguild website, people will help you get sounds/hitsparks and help you out when you are stuck.

You should totally have a Half-beard assist move!

I'm half tempted to make Rob and Johny characters in it too. In this case, Rob would HAVE to have an attack where he'd suddenly grow a half beard and then send it flying as a projectile attack. Spike's actually got a lot of planned moves, some of which are based more on the dog himself and not on anything that's happened in the cartoon yet. It's going to be awesome. And yeah, I've been to mugenguild before, but I can't set up an account on their forum. I set up an account on Mugen-Infantry (I THINK that's its name), though, so that's better than nothing.

Lol sweet a Spike Mugen Character! WOOT! Love ya videos Bobert, but I don't love you. LOL. Happy almost Birthday.

Thanks, glad you don't take your enjoyment to creepy levels. It's a growing trend as of late for fans to profess some kind of creepy love towards me personally for whatever reason. I'm just like "Guys, I'm flattered, but I'm not really into idol worshipping myself, so I try not to encourage it from others." Just enjoy my work, that's all I ask!

happy muther luvin birthday now i must spam kitty krew webpages

I had mugen about 2-3 years ago.... with about 400+ characters. I suppose I gave up in part due to balance issues. Impossible characters started popping up and mutilating what remained of fair gameplay.
I remember Mugen Infantry too, If Mugen is a community, M-I is the ghetto :S

Anyway best of luck making Spike, I'll be sure to try him out when released. Also make a Foam Buddha :P

Heh, maybe as an attack for the possible Rob character. That's IF I feel like making him, who knows. Mugen ghetto, eh? Well it's the only forum I can get an account on thus far, so I'll take what I can get.

You must have Spike, I love spike he's the best Winchester

PS: Half Beard, have youre mom in there doing her Gypsy Card game assist

lol, that assist would be a ridiculously obscure reference, heh. Just may do it. Might throw that in if I make Johny on there, as I lack good ideas for him. Of course, I'd have to use his guitar for a few attacks and perhaps his hacky sack (which is introduced in episode 6), but beyond those two things I'm not sure what he'd do. I'll figure it out if/when I end up getting there. I have a LOT of ideas for Rob, mostly involving his weird little items (paper mache hand, duct tape ball, etc).

hmmm? why are your posts so long.... everytime it seems like pointless ranting for at least 8/10 of the post.... hmmm whatever, coool

I practically write a book everytime I make a post, sorry. I'm not one to skip out on info. You'll just have to endure it.

Sometimes I leave stuff thats not supposed to be there. You know how that is. QUESTION MARK. no. Period

Cool! Thanks for the information on M.U.G.E.N. It appears to be an interesting game. Hopefully I'll be able download some new characters soon enough, but my computer is slow enough where it doesn't look very likely. I'll be looking for when Spike is available!

Best of luck with your newest projects!

Thanks, yeah, it is a pretty awesome program. Have fun and remember, play responsibly!

You deserve to be the king :D
Your awsome!

Well thank you.

i am a proffesional mugan player.it would be great if you made a sprite parody about it.I would probly lol.I would tell you some suggestions but i blew up system becuse i got mad and turned into the hulk and broke it and half.then i sat in my emo corner for a week or two.sooooo, good luck with your mini vacation.once i get my mugen back im putting the master hand in there//////!or ill just get the new one,BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AAHAH HA HAhehehehe that was was funny.well um ...i guess ill go now......

I'd actually like to do a normally drawn parody of Mugen and all the ridiculous things people make on it. I could imagine it now, Omega Tom Hanks goes duck hunting, or the ridiculousness of four Broli's fighting simultaneously. Of course, you can see all this just by having them fight eachother in the game, so it really isn't necessary for me to do it, is it? Yes indeed.

Dang I loved playing M.U.G.E.N. My favorite char. in it is Sephiroth but when u fight him its hard...

Wow, thats just awesome. I got it, and got some characters for it, but I have one question: How do you put characters in the game when they are a .RAR file? I downloaded a character thats a .RAR file but I can't find out how to put him on with my other characters...

A .rar file is just another kind of zip file, basically. You need a program that can open it and export all the files in it. There's plenty out there, I personally use a program called IZArc, it can open up a lot of archive file formats like zip and rar files. It's freeware, too, so you can't go wrong, eh? Eh.

cool mugen sounds interesting and japanese rob and i hope u dont get side tracked anoth to make the extras too far away soo you keep working on them and happy birthday for the 8th

It'll get here when it gets here, and not a moment sooner. I might finish it up soon, but we'll see. I ain't promising a damn thing, cracker barrel. WORD.

Hehe MUGEN good times good times, thanks to you I'll play it again

Nifty. It's a good time killer, that's for sure... especially if you get some of the weirder characters.

grats on king of the portal
kan you leave a comment on my user page

Uh, ok. I'll see what I can do. And thanks.

i have a mac so i had to run it on dos box but i dont know how?

I'm not sure how to get it running on a mac, sorry. Can't you run windows on a mac? If so, I'd say figure out how to do that and then you'd be able to use WinMugen. Besides that, I can't imagine getting Mugen to work on a Mac.

Haha, used to play it all the time, had a couple MUGEN videos on the youtube (type in my alias into the youtube search engine and there you go)

Sadly, my computer became an hero, and now I can't play it anymore. Fun while it lasted though. Also, for a while I was the leader of the MUGEN club on the BBS, but yeah, no more MUGEN = no need for me to really be there. Oh well, good times.

so spike is gonna be an available character, huh? This will be interesting when it comes out! ... But seriously though, you should work on the blue haired guy. He's a 16-bit catastrophe!!! But spike looks awesome!

lol, yeah, he does look like shit. Then again, I made him back in 01 and back then I was pretty bad at spriting, especially big sprites. Of course, the blue haired guy won't be available, like, ever... unless I completely redo the sprites and coding. Perhaps eventually.
