HOTM 1 Revised: Should I upload it on NG?

Hey guys. I have a question for you: How many of you would care for me to release "Hotrod opened the Matrix 1, revised edition" on Newgrounds?

For those of you who don't know, my first series was a trilogy of cartoons called "Hotrod Opened the Matrix", a parody mixing Transformers with the Matrix trilogy, and pitting Bobert and friends against Transformers bent on enslaving mankind.

Back when I was doing HOTM 3 part A, I started working on a revised version of HOTM 1. I was about 95% done with it when I stopped working on it (due to the weapons scene with Jesus and me having no idea how I wanted to do that). I've been releasing unfinished cartoons on my dA account and figured this would be a nice way to end it, so I finished up the revised HOTM 1.

Another cool thing about this is that I figured out how to combine parts A and B so you can watch the ENTIRE first episode uncut! This caused the filesize of the animation to go up to 8.8 MB, which is pretty big. I think dA has a size limit, so I might have to release it on here.

Due to it being one of my oldest animations, it's not as good as my current work. Thus, I'm not sure if I want to release it on here. I mean, I do have a high standard as far as animation is concerned, and this doesn't quite measure up to my recent works (visually and audio-wise). It's MUCH better than the original though, honestly. I can actually sit and watch it now.

So tell me: Should I do this, or not? I don't want to give people false hope about HOTM 3 being finished, because that still isn't happening... most likely. But if you guys are interested in it, I'll release it on here. Well, I'll probably do what I'm going to do regardless, but you might change my mind if you guys care strongly either way.

I just don't want to release it and have 90 % of the people bitch about audio quality, or how I should've done this or that or whatever. It's not a complete redo, I just added new intros to scenes and made some of the animation smoother. While a lot of it looks better, it still looks dated and weird.

Well, I probably will, so sleep well. I just hope it doesn't annoy too many people, the audio quality ain't that great... but it's sufferable, I say. And they still don't have noses, heh.

Well the revised HOTM 1 is already done, so no drastic changes in the characters. That and changing the story drastically would alienate parts 2 and 3 and I'm not willing to redo those parts... doing them the first time took a few years, and I never even finished the third, so... yeah. Not in the mood to redo ALL that, heh. Hell, I'm only going to do this because I did most of the work back in 2005, heh.

It is a dilemma, but I'd say if the quality is at least comparable to the first couple episodes of Siblings, it's well worth it to post whatcha got. And if you make Rob scream HALF BEEEAAARDD at any point, I'll make it a part of my daily schedule to come and vote 5 on it.

Not quite. The quality of it would be comparable to, say, HOTM 3 part A. Which isn't that great itself, but it's better than the original version. That isn't saying too terribly much, but it is.

Storyline is exactly the same as the original, so it doesn't suck any more than the original HOTM 1 does. In fact, I'd say it sucks significantly less. But that's just me.

Personally i like the standard that you've set for yourself here on ng. I'm a big fan of your work and love the originality that is ever-present through all of your animated endeavours, and would hate to see a (somewhat) dated cartoon cause a fuss amongst the more ignorant viewers... But then again, fuck 'em... I believe whichever option you choose to go with will be a smashing success, but you probably already knew that... Now go write another siblings and eat you veges, or there'll be no pudding for a month... :p

Why eat my vegies when I could've had a V8? Yeah, I went there. Honestly, I'm just afraid people will assume this move means I'm going to finish HOTM 3, which is still very unlikely. Most of this was done in 05, so the hard work was already done. But eh, what happens happens.

my friend you have nothing to be ashamed about or worry about anything your work is what keeps most people alive instead of killing themselves ... why the hell did i say that god damn ugh look your art work is great best i've seen on newgrounds well it should be up there with the best flash artists. Anyway i never seen the HOTM's series cause i guess i didn't like the humor or didn't get into the plot and i think you should do the Revise. Well, I'm glad you like what I do. The revision is done, I'm just not totally sure if I want to release it on NG. You can check it out on my dA account and see for yourself. I'm not sure if I'll post it on here... although it's pretty likely that I will. Thanks for the compliments!

You know, subtitles... I honestly never thought of that for HOTM. Of course, then I'd definitely have to redo each episode and THAT is something I never want to have to do... you know? It's be at least another 2 years of work, and jeez... not something I'm not up for at the moment. Who knows, though, if I stall any longer with this I just may.
